Yay! Shawn is in for a treat again! School is highly subsidizing kids for another kiddy play at Esplanade! I saw the notice in Shawn's bag 2nights ago, signed up and dunked the money into the little pocket in his communication book. Then I went to him and asked, "So, is there something that Tr Seana told you to tell mommie?"
Shawn : Yes, Mommie take the paper, put in the money in my comm book pocket. We are going to the Baby Panda show.
Mommie : Tell me about the show
Shawn : It's about Baby Panda, a naughty one. He go(es) into the forest and throws things at the monkey. Monkey got angry hmmmpppfff and scolded Baby Panda
Mommie : So, teacher in school read to you about the Baby Panda
Shawn : Yes, Tr Seana read the book to us
* Baby Panda Finds His Way authored by Emily Lim, supposedly introducing Asian values to little kiddosMommie : I see. The show is not tomorrow or anytime this week. It's in 2months time. Mommie put in the money in your comm book to buy the ticket ok?
Shawn : Why?
Mommie : Baby Panda show is not on yet. Not yet, you'll be watching in July. Now it's only May.
Shawn : Baby Panda is still sleeping? Not working?
Mommie : Yes, not working yet.
Recently we had been reading Peter and Jane - This keyword series gradually introduces and repeats words. The illustrations aren't tacky wacky, cartoony or brightly colored but boring real life looking humans, shops and what nots. Printed on Arial fonts on one page and illustration on another. As stated from wiki "Murray realised that only 12 words account for ¼, 100 words account for ½, and 300 words account for ¾, of the words used in normal speaking, reading and writing in the English language."

We started 1a on 24Apr. Took about a week for Shawn to recognise about first 16words with daily reading of about 15min or so. A week later, we introduced 1b. Book 1a and 1b use only 16 words and these are the ones :
Peter
Jane
and
here is
the dog
likes
I
a shop
toy
in
has
ball
tree
- the words with variation of s and 's added to the words, also varying in capital and small letters.
Inspired by a quote from a mommie's blog :
The Children's Reading Foundation in USA advises all parents to spend 20 minutes everyday :
"Just 20 minutes a day reading aloud with young children strengthens relationships, encourages listening and language skills, promotes attention and curiosity, and establishes a strong reading foundation. These skills are essential for success in school and in life."
