Yesterday Shawn managed 2words in a row. At first he said "MumMum" for food. Then a minute later he said "Get". Then after much later he said "Get MumMum" when he saw dinner on the table. He didn't repeat it very often, just 2-3times over the whole evening. Anyway, he is now very pro using the word get especially for food.
To my surprise he said the word cow yesterday as we were flipping the barnyard animal book. He went cow, pointint at it. Well, it worked when we asked him repeatedly.

Expo and 2
Shawn knows where are the palm trees (those that are lined up outside Expo building). And I would ask where is E-X-P-O, he would point to the big words of EXPO signage. I ask him to say EXPO, he would say Ah-Poh. Well close enough... :)
Shawn recognises number 2 and count number of items 2. He doesn't know number 1 yet

Stop and Go
Shawn first learnt STOP when he saw a photo of a girl (in a magazine) putting her hand out as STOP signal. I taught him the word then. Then we then taught him to STOP at traffic light when the red light is on. So he puts out his hand and say STOP. Recently we taught him to say GO. And he did it easily and he went on ranting Gogogogogogo nonstop. Then we taught him to say Go at green light. When asked green means what? He would say Go... Now when we ask him, red means what? He would say Go. When the taxi stops at red light, he'd shout Gogogo. Now, tell me how to reverse that.

New words
YP called from Zurich over the weekend and spoke to Shawn. Minutes prior to the call, I taught Shawn to say "Ah Kor" (in Hokkien it means auntie). He stared at me as if it was alien word. Then, he managed to vocalise it. Anyway, when she called, he just kept mum. Then we asked what does the lion say. He roared. Warmed up a bit. He answered when he's being asked to make the animals noise. :D Then when we asked him to call Ah Kor he was a bit stunned and stucked. But it came like a broken record from his mouth on and on after awhile being on the phone. Anyway, this phone call is an entitlement for one toy (according to the "Ah Kor"). Shawn kept calling Ah Kor towards the end of the call did not mean that he's entitled to more than one toy (according to the "Ah Kor"). So YT told Shawn to stop calling Ah Kor since the entitlement is already redeemed.
Now Shawn can say apple (as in American slang). I taught him for the fun of it and it worked. On most lazy days, he says "Pel pel". He calls the owl as "awul". He loves the owl nowadays. He kisses the book when he sees the owl.

He is saying cup while pointing to the Tommy Tippee straw cup, wanting to drink water. We taught him cat as we saw one at kopitiam while having breakfast. He tried to repeat but it was not very clear yet

Dutch? Touch!
We were at Ikea before lunchtime today. Bought new bibs, straws and plastic bowls for Shawn. He was very busy that he missed his late morning nap. By the time he decided that he should nap it was already almost 1pm. It was difficult to pacify him by them. I carried him with him screaming into my ears. He really tested my limits. Luckily after 15min of screaming at the bedding department, he zonked out.
Back at home late afternoon. we thought we heard chanting of "Dutch, dutch, dutch..." for a long long while - from all sort of vocal pitch high to low. Yes, all 3adults i.e. my mum, YT and myselfthought we heard dutch. Slowly the pronounciation became more clear and it dawned to us it's TOUCH!!! Yea... it's touch. We never taught him the word Dutch. When my mum sat him down with the baby touch Shapes book, he rattled on (what seemed) touch. So it's Touch! As we were going downstairs for dinner, he touch the wall inside the lift and said touch!

15Dec08 New word : Goat
There was this barnyard animal book that Shawn always look at during mealtime. He pointed at the goat and said "Goat". Then he flipped on to other pages and kept on saying Goat. I reversed back to that page and repeated goat. And he pointed at the goat and said goat again.
Grouchy after dinner - must have been the poop!
