My Wishlist before I Pop Tomorrow

Do you think baby Shawn would be out by now 3.02pm tomorrow? I hope so :)

Tomorrow is the day. After midnight tonight, no food & no drinks. I got to be at the labour ward at about 7.30am. I'd better be able to sleep tonight and not wake up in the middle of the night to pee!

My Wishlist :
  • A Happy, Healthy & Handsome little Shawn
  • Short labour hours
  • As for the pain, I hope I could take it without epidural
  • Prefer no visitors @ the hospital, if you really have to come and if you really have to buy something, no chicken of essence pleaseeee... thank you very much hahahahaa

The weekend is over

Last night, I got a call from the confinement lady that she couldn't come by to Singapore to handle my confinement. She told me that something cropped up. However she found someone to substitute her. Apparently it's her sister in law. Of course I got a little angry and upset. But on second thought, if she were to come after her current stint of 40days with the current family, she might not be in tiptop shape and who knows she might not be happy and does a lousy job. So, I rather hope and pray the lady she recommended is good and worth the money that I would paying.

We went to Tampines Mall today. We had Wang's for breakfast. I had Milo while the rest had coffee !@^# (When I got back and tested the blood 2hrs after breakfast, it was on the higher side - blame it on sweet Kaya spread) I finally bought a thermal flask, some LockLock containers and some baby sundries. Felt so tired when I got home. I wonder where did all my energy went to. Some other unfinished business to be done tomorrow. The disposable diapers delivery and I think I would go to the mall tomorrow to get Fenugreek to standby.

Tomorrow is a new week. YT is going back to work for 2days. I am seeing the gynae again on Tuesday and Wednesday is the D-day! Fast eh...

Oh, wow!!! count down to D-Day 5Dec07 Wednesday : 3.5 more days (it's already 5pm now!!!)
psssttt... I changed the ticker EDD from 20Dec to 5Dec

Excited?

Baby is doing well during the CTG scan yesterday, weighing about 3kg during the scan. As for me, there is still traces of sugar in the strip test. I guess this is not to be the main concern now, as long as baby is out healthy and happy. Even though I couldn't get enough sleep the previous night, I woke up feeling excited. See how fast my mood can change overnight?!

We figured out, the 1st 5 days without the confinement lady, we have to handle things by ourselves. Well, mum could help with the cooking and cleaning. While YT would handle the baby. He would need to pick up during the parentcraft session with the nurses in the hospital on the 2nd day of my stay in the hospital. Anyway, we had flagged for SOS to Wai Sing and Steph. :) And as for me, I need rest :P

I am coming up with a list of duties to be delegated. Doesn't that sound mad, overplanning??? I guess I rather do it this way at least we don't scramble the last minute.

Count down to D-Day 5Dec07 Wednesday : 5more days

Day 2 At Home

This morning I woke up at 5.30am for the loo and was staring at the curtains. I probably went back to sleep at 7am. When YT left for work, I was half awake. Then I slept thru till about 10am. Baby seemed a little quiet but I think he's at anterior position so I can't really tell when he kicks. My belly is constantly changing shape from one side to the other.

Aiko was very busy this morning. She kept coming in and out the study room. Probably checking on me to see if I was okay :) In the evening, she stayed outside the study room, keeping guard.

Day2
10.30am : A healthy breakfast, consisting of oats, some cheerios and half a glass of milk.
12.00pm : A cup of soya bean milk (no sugar
1.30pm : Lunch - Rice, Spinach/pork soup, Taukua and Brocolli, 1serve of papaya
==== nap from 4:00pm to 5:30pm ====
6.00pm : Vitagen
7.30pm : Dinner - Rice, Egg/Pork sesame ginger soup, Fish, Spinach, 1serve of papaya
10.30pm : Half a glass of milk

I got a call from confinement lady's daughter. She told me that her mother would only be available from the 10th onwards. However, we were thinking of getting induced on 5Dec as previously the confinement lady told me that she would be available on the 7th onwards.. Although it might just be a few days of difference, I am not too sure if we could handle things without her around... Sigh... I just gave her a call and she didn't pick up. Probably busy. Anyway, tomorrow I'm seeing Dr Yang again. Hope everything is well for me. I think we would be discussing the induction process. Afterthat I would be meeting up with someone from Cordlife to talk about the cord banking.

I hope to get all these settled by this weekend so that I could relax before my induction.

So far so good

I woke up at 3am feeling tummy ache. Went to the loo then stayed awake for an hour but the pain was still there. It wasn't contraction so I just slept through it. When I woke up at 7.30am plus, the pain was still there. After I got up for awhile, the pain disappeared. I reckon it was my sleeping position.

Day1 at home for bedrest. I tried to follow as closely as possible what the dietician has advised.
8.45am : A healthy breakfast, consisting of oats, some cheerios and half a glass of milk. Well, I had not have oats for decades and I never liked oats. Much to my surprise, I stomach it without puking.
10.00am : A cup of soya bean milk (no sugar)
==== nap from 11:30am to 12:30pm ====
1.00pm : Lunch - Rice, Lotus root soup, Tofu steamed with Pork and Spinach

3.00pm : A red apple
==== nap from 4:00pm to 5:30pm ====
6.00pm : Vitagen

7.30pm : Dinner - Rice, Lotus root soup, Fish, Kailan, Spinach, a red apple
10.30pm : Half a glass of milk

Pray and pray... that I would be good and I would stick to all possible timing and portion that I have to follow for the $75 advice that I paid

Another day at GlenEagles

Went to office this morning but realised that I had a lot of discharge. So went to the hospital again. 4th day in a row I am seeing the gynae. Sigh... I was put on CTG again today for about half an hour but there was no contractions. One bad news was that I had gestational diabetes.
Doctor shared the risk of GD, preterm, and what could be done. Since baby is still at border line of pre-term/full term, she prefer that I carry the baby till mid wk37 so that this would lessen the chances of baby lungs being immature. So most likely baby needs to be induced next week. Meanwhile, I have to take care of my diet and starting on Saturday, I need to prick myself for 7times a day to check for sugar level. Today, I had to see the dietician and that cost me $75 for 20minutes.

It was disheartening to hear about me being +ve GD at this point in time. But look on the bright side, one more week and the baby would be out. :)

Oh well...

I slept through my contractions last night. They were not intense or perhaps I was just too tired. Then today, I went for my glucose challenge today. Not sure what's the result yet, but hopefully the clinic would not call me for any bad news.

I was on CTG scan again today to check baby's heartbeat. He was very active this morning. Initially the heartbeat was on the left hand side then after the nurse left the room, baby flipped (I heard many pops over the speaker) and I lost the trace of heartbeat. Since there was no nurse call from the CTG room to the clinic counter, I had to wait for the nurse to come in 15minutes later to check on me. She restrapped and located the baby heartbeat on the right. After that baby stayed put, probably was resting. After 45minutes or so, baby started to move again, non stop but we could still trace the heartbeat. As for my contractions, there is nothing to talk about. Basically no contractions at all during the scan today.

After that I had a review with the gynae. She did a quick scan on baby, measured 2.8kg (+/- 200g) in case she doesn't get to scan baby if I go straight to the labour ward for labour. She told me that if I go to the labour ward again, she'll deliver me already coz i'm just shy of 2days from wk37 i.e. full term. Well, she does sound as if I won't pass 1Dec even :)

Slow and steady but...

Mucous plug came off this morning. So I called the hospital and contacted the gynae and told me to go the labour ward. Took my bath and did some last minute laundry. We got a lift to the hospital , thanks to WaiSing & Steph, :) I was then strapped to the CTG scanner for 3hrs plus. Baby was doing great, very very busy inside and he moved so much that the nurse had to come in twice to tighten the strap to ensure the heartbeat indicator stays put.

My initial contractions for the 1st 2 hours were pathetic. But during the last hour, contractions got more consistent in frequency and higher in intensity. Real stuff felt like radiating from the lower back to the upper belly. Just as doctor came by again, she said it could jolly well be tonight upon seeing my chart. She said that if I had come during the 3rd hour, she would have warded me. Anyway, I came home and monitored. It was like 6-7 times per hour for the past 2-3 hours. Not increasing in intensity though. Anyway, tomorrow I need to go for the glucose challenge. While waiting doctor would put me on CTG again to see how am I doing. All I need is a good night sleep tonight

Real or not?

Last night was one of the awful nights (hhhmmmm I think there would be more to come) where I could not sleep well, tossed around in pain and mild contractions were happening. I went to bed at 9pm, slept awhile and woke up at 10.30pm. I had contractions of like 20seconds each for about 5-6times for 2hours. After that I couldn't sleep, probably till 2am or so and then slept through to 7 in the morning. Can't quite remember how many times did I patronise the loo last night but it sure did felt as if I was going to the loo every other 15minutes.

We went to the doctor today, complained about the groin and pelvic pain that I have been having. Tahan, tahan... And damn, I flunked my urine test again, this time I seriously need to retake the glucose challenge. Would be taking MC on Monday to retake the test. I have to fast from 10pm on Sunday till Monday morning. When I get to the hospital, the lab would take the urine and blood samples. Then I have to drink the awful fizzy orange drink and sit there for 2hours and the lab would take the urine and blood samples again. If I do have gestational diabetes, doctor need to induce me for early delivery... something which I don't want

Anyway, during the checkup, doctor told us that I am ready for labour. Cervix has 2cm dilation already, anytime soon and blablabla. I wasn't really paying much attention when she's blabbering on, as I was thinking "ANYTIME SOON?! But the confinement lady would be available only on the 7th Dec onwards!" I think I was in denial because I read in early labour stage it would take a long while before active labour starts and that thought kept playing in my brain. But doctor said, based on the cervix texture it's in good shape for delivery. If I do get continuous bloody discharge and/or contractions which are more frequent and increasing in intensity, then yes, it's probably time to get to call the hospital.

After the checkup, we strolled our way to Tanglin Mall for breakie. As we were waiting to be served, I was still thinking about the haircut and one good dinner at Pete's Place on 1Dec. Then I sms-ed some girlfriends. One told me that one of her gf was dilated 2cm and wanted to deliver asap, she decided to walk the malls for the whole day and yes, the next day she delivered her baby. This is unbelieveable! I was dead beat, after that I got home, dropped everything and slept for 1 1/2hrs. One great energy charger nap! After I woke up I called my mum to tell her about the possibility of popping earlier and told her to come by to Singapore as soon as possible. Then I informed my confinement lady. I told her that I needed a backup plan in case I do deliver earlier. I hope she would find someone if I do deliver before 7Dec.

We had dinner at Yoshinoya, Tampines Mall and walked around a bit. Felt a couple of contractions this evening and tonight as well. Well, I am a little lazy to time them. I thought if they are not increasingly more powerful, I could just ignore them. I am praying hard that I could sleep tonight (That's all I ask for), if not I would be counting sheeps and pigs again....

Insomia

Went to bed close to midnight last night but I couldn't really sleep. I wasn't sure what time I really dozed off. The next moment I knew, I was up at 3.30am for the loo. After that, I counted sheeps, stayed awake until hours later then I dozed off. Feeling like zombie, I decided to take my one last day of annual leave to sleep at home... Déjà vu, just like the 1st few months. Seems like for the next one month, I would be waking up wee hours of the morning for the loo. :( I read at the SMH forum that there are a lot of mommies having insomia too. Got to tahan... My pelvic still hurts. Even when tossing in the bed, the discomfort would wake me up. Today, it hurt more on the right pelvic as the package was more to the right. It felt better after my afternoon nap as I slept throughout on my left hand side :)

I was reading up on some people consuming their own placenta. I wonder if it is like eating a slab of dried pork liver if it had been sunned and dried. What would be the goodness of placenta? Hhhmmm, I think I'll pass...

Taaa daaa... Today marks the end of wk36. Another week closer and counting down another 28days to D-Day!

To the Left, To the Right

Past two days, baby had been moving vigorously, seemed to be little space left in there. Yesterday, he parked himself most of the time on the right. It felt round from the outside, was it his butt? This morning, he was on the right, then in the afternoon he shifted to the left. And when he moved, I could see wave like distortion from one side to the other and felt my skin being stretched as he moved inside. I must say, it did cause discomfort at times. One good thing, at work, I didn't need to do the fetal counts as baby has never failed to create havoc in me at his usual wakey periods.

My pelvic still hurts... especially today when baby is more on the left side, I could feel the pressure on my left pelvic. Well, sure does plus the fibroid. The pressure made me feel as if I still needed the loo even though I just went. Kept telling myself to bear with it. Yan... yan... yan...

We have not been cooking in recent weeks after my mum left for home. So we decided to order tingkat for these 2weeks. Food was passable but I would think the portion is on the small side. In future, I would still want to cook even when the baby is here. I don't think I could survive eating catered food. :)

Pain in the Ass

And I mean real PAIN IN THE ASS. From rising from the chair, to standing up. I need to take a breather and push myself up with my hands. Then hold there for a few seconds before I take the first step. And OUCH! Every step is a small step. Looks like I got to bear with it for one more month! And in this one month's time, I do not hope to see new streaks of stretch marks.. uuuuuhhhhhhhh... ugly red lines. One more month, baby!!! It is 19Nov today. Baby is expected to be due on the 20Dec. Yes, we did have family talk to remind him it's 20Dec ***not sure if this really works, we'll see...

Things done this weekend

We had things done this weekend. Before I forget, some credit must be given. Yes, YT did have the patch of wall in baby's room painted yesterday. The paint color that I chosed from DIY shop somewhat is brighter than the wall paint color in the room. Anyway it doesn't look that bad la... :) And tonight, we also finally got another standing fan for the house.

As for me, I :
  • finally packed my hospital bag (3/4 done)
  • sunned the swing bed padding (weather has been awful)
  • washed 2 infant caps
  • did our laundry
  • hid all baby sundries in the drawer
  • bought more baby sundries tonight (can't help it, Kiddy Palace at Century Sq has reopened)
  • bought another pack of cloth diapers (but still not washed)

I am planning for a haircut on 1Dec and dinner with some girlfriends. I wonder if baby would still stay inside?! Today, another mommie popped! That makes it 5 December moms-to-be popped in Nov. :)

Best-est Meal in 35wks

This morning, while I am tossing and turning in bed, baby hiccuped. I felt funny as I wonder what had made him hiccup in the morning even before I had my breakie. :) We had a lazy Saturday, just laze, did nothing and relax at home... We had nasi lemak for late breakie. Stayed home and watched "The Queen". I thought Helen Mirren did a good job potraying the queen indeed.

Had an awesome dinner at Morton's. The last time we went there was probably in end 2003. Nothing has changed except the wait staff. I ordered the smallest, least-expensive cut at Morton's i.e. single cut filet mignon, medium well but not dry, it was just perfect. The oh-so-comforting warm chocolate cake with Häagen-Dazs vanilla icecream was served on the house. There seem to be a lot of birthdays celebrated today at the restaurant. What can I say, the Best-est Meal in the last 35wks, one month before baby is expected to be due. I believe baby would also enjoying his portion inside :) Had a couple of Braxton-Hicks at dinner table and now as well. Baby should be having his dinner right in my belly now as this is his usual wakey time and he is moving about quite a fair bit. I am thankful I am not getting heartburn from the choco cake!

Am I ready? Probably not...

  1. Baby room is half past six and that patch of wall not painted yet
  2. Milk bottles/Ameda pump not washed nor sterilised
  3. I need to get another 10pcs of cloth diapers and order the disposable ones
  4. I haven't even gotten gynae's letter yet... have I pre-registered for admission? I doubt so
  5. I need a haircut before I pop
  6. Speaking of work related matters, I think I have just taught my backup 5%

I guess that's about it.. did I miss out anything? Anyway, another Dec mummy gave birth today!

Quiet day...

I just found out today that last week two of my A-levels' hostelmates' wives delivered one week apart. And someone expected to be due in Dec has already popped!!! 5wks earlier than expected due date. Should I be anxious?!

Met up with some ex-colleagues for dinner just now. Had broiled steak, not bad but the company was better. :) And I just realised that the next time we would meet up would be when I pop and we would then be chatting over pig trotters

Sleepless Tuesday, Awful Wednesday

We went to the doctor yesterday. I thought baby would touch 2.6kg, but the estimated weight is 2.4kg. Oh well, as long as baby is growing well it's fine. Doctor said baby is quite tall, like mommie :P

We went out for dinner with some hometown friends last night. Dinner was all right but i accidentally ate a piece of cold chicken "SOAKED" with some chinese wine!!! Even though i haven't had alcohol since March, I think I wouldn't have missed it that much! I would think this was way too strong for a chicken dish. Insomia was inevitable. I had problem sleeping last night. Had to get out of bed at 1245am to visit the loo. So I probably slept after 1am. Today, I certainly had woken up at the wrong side of the bed, had pelvic pain which lasted me for the whole day. And for this whole day, my tummy felt like a tonne of stone pressing on my bladder, everytime I rose from the chair. It felt like my bladder was going to explode on the way to the loo!!!

Mad man not scolding Aiko already? Well, she did bark today but no one barked in return. I realised that she is not barking so much these two days after being scolded by mad man. I wonder...

Monday madness

We had dinner at home just now. When our neighbour walked passed and Aiko started barking. Someone from upstairs slammed door a couple of times and started shouting and scolding really really loudly. It kept on coming, and it felt like someone was shouting madly at the corridor area. It was madness as he also barked profanities from upstairs. It lasted for about 20minutes. It was crazy and Aiko got really really scared that she just sat trembling at our feet during dinner. Poor thing... Aiko had been really quiet and solemn for the whole night. I wonder if she was badly traumatised. I think baby could also sense the tension that I was going through as it was the first time in 3years someone ever scolded our dog for barking. Baby kept on kicking for a while and was pretty active tonight. I hope what happened tonight did not scare him...

Tomorrow morning, we would be seeing baby. Doctor could not make it on Saturday and we both coincidentally going on leave tomorrow just to 'laze' at home, so we rescheduled our appointment to tomorrow morning. Well, means, we still need to wake up early to get to the hospital.

It's a sloooooooowwwwwwww Sunday

I gorged down a cup of milk, 2pieces of prata and a cup of soya bean milk this morning. But that did not wake the little one up. He did budge a little before lunch time. Probably it was his breakie time. I just had brie cheese and water crackers, just to snack a little but he still didn't move. After that I moved around a bit, tap my fingers lightly on my belly. Voi·là! He moved, probably I had disturbed him from his cozy little bunk. Guess it's also a Sunday for him, taking a day off day from moving around in mommie. These few days my belly had been tightening and I guess it's just nature practising contractions. Painless but it sure does felt like a block of stone on the whole belly.

It's a slow Sunday today... YT has been busy playing Oblivion on his xBox360 most of the time this afternoon, while I was trying out all sorts of things alternating Blogspot and Facebook. Well, Aiko as usual sleeps a lot in the afternoon.

My facebook horoscope says "Scorpio: An event this week will make you realize that your happily-ever -after might happen sooner than you thought."
Ooopppsssie... what does this mean? A couple of moms at SMH had gone for CTG scans and had some dilation to some extend (even though they are due in Due). It now dawns to me that possibly anything could happen sooner than anyone expected.... geezzzz I wonder when would my baby springs surprises to us!
