We're back in Kulim for this whole week. Meanwhile, Shawn was having a good time experiencing more new things and meeting new relatives. I, obviously had to close both eyes on what he was eating.. say.. pork knuckle in dark soy sauce and whatever we the adults were eating off the table! He also had a small whipped potato from KFC and half a bun! He was spared from the sweet drinks and cookies - yes, I was watching closely to the relatives who tried to feed him with those!!! Hahaaa
We were all bugged towards the end of our stay. Shawn started coughing, I had brought Salbutamol back and gave it to him first. Then on Saturday, I suddenly had high fever and was practically bedridden. I couldn't get off the bed. On Sat night too, Shawn coughed so hard that he vomitted his oats porridge and milk onto the bed. What could be worse! My mum had to change the bedsheet and helped to wipe him clean. Was glad my mum was around to help here and there. On Sunday, I was sleeping for 1/2 day and had to ride to Penang to fly back to Singapore at night. Awful feeling! Fever came and go from Saturday to Monday. Then flu, cold and cough set in in full force. Past 3 night I hadn't been sleeping well. In fact having very little sleep. Meanwhile, Shawn was waking up and crying in the middle of the night, calling Mama and Papa. When not heeded, he would try "milk milk". All didn't work on me. I just patted on the cot mattress and signal him to lie down to sleep. We brought him to Dr Khor on Monday after I saw a GP. Dr Khor herself was not well... :P She diagnosed Shawn with mild throat infection. She felt that we both had caught it from someone (for all you know during visitation or whatever) as all these eeeky virus are airborne.
I started sending Shawn to Learning Vision on Tuesday. He wasn't too happy with the new place. On the 1st day, he was very clingy. The moment I put him on the floor, he cried. Hugged on my legs and didn't want to let go. I spent about an hour there. I kind of regretted delay leaving the centre, perhaps that made separation worse for Shawn. Anyway, at the end of the day, when I picked him up, the caregivers were telling me that he wanted to be around with adults. Didn't want to play with other kids or venture on his own. He wanted to be hugged and carried most of the time, else he would cry. He saw Ho Sang, Jun Jie and Shanny but the moment he saw them he just cried. Just not normal as they had always been play mates in Kidstarz. I think it must have been the one week break from the school routine and the new environment that made him this way. Back at home on day1, he was totally clingy. The moment I put him on the floor and walked away, he started crying. I was pretty shocked seeing his behaviour but after cross checking with other mommies, this is very very normal when they get back home. Day2 was also the same thing. Cry and cry and cry. Uggghhh... Day3, was also the same. Except when we got home, it was better. He was played chasing with Aiko for awhile and he faked cry when he was on the high chair for 15minutes. Zachary and dad walked pass to a hoarse voiced, fake crying Shawn (no tears - unless he has no more tears left to cry after a long day at LV?!)... Shame shame... Anyway, hope today it'll be better. I have a noisy Aiko at home, plus I have baby who is crying for attention. What else could provide more surround sound to this combination?!
So, what has Shawn been up to recently?
- He communicates for us better now. He says shows me no more (with his palms flipped upwards) but this confuses me sometimes as it sounded like more more at times.
- He points out to an object when he wants it and goes eh eh (sometimes he says get)
- He claps when we say "Hao chi pai pai shou" or "Yummy yummy clap clap hand" - both languages work. My mum taught him the Mandarin version. :D
- He recognises various breeds of dogs.
- He calls cat as "Chat" - trying to correct his pronounciation
- He says Kakak as "Chachak"
- He points outside the house and calls to see birds when he hears chirps,
- He points out to my mum's neighbour's pond for fish (he still say "ish").
- He calls frog similar sound to clock.
- He calls a sofa/couch as chair (i think that's passable while we are trying to correct him).
- He asks for bowl bowl (bo-bo) and spoon during mealtime
- YT taught him belt and he pronounces it correctly and pointing to a belt.
