Sinusitis

We sent him to Dr Khor (AGAIN!!!) today. He has lots of muck coming out from his nose and eyes for the past 3days. So now, it's sinusitus (it's hereditary and coupled with the cold he just had recently).

During the 1st visit 2-3wks ago, he was given antiB Bactrim but at half the dose of his body weight. Reason being, Dr wanted him to fight back the cold himself. It went away for awhile and came back full force and turned sinus these few days. That's why his eye ducts were excerting goey discharge and he has the usual longkang nose again. The discharge from the eye ducts were yellow because of the backflow in the nose to the eye. Sound gross but it's a fact that these are connected. Simply, your nose would produce mucus when you get teary and cry. Then come the coughing part, since he is having longkang nose, the back drip from the nose turns phlegmy and irritates him to cough. Then as the airways get clogged up with phlegm since he doesn't know how to spit them out, he wheezes. Plus an odd thing of having some rash on his neck, ear and some on the face and body as well. Some appear pimply while some which were just bumpy red. I am being assured that this is related to the whole cold/sinus thing. Well, that's about it the whole process that's going on in him.

Today, Dr Khor decided to put him on a full dose antiB Bactrim course for the next 7-10days. Then reduce the dosage to continue for the next 2-3 weeks with half the dosage to ensure muck is gone for good. She also prescribed a steroid based medicine Predisone at a low, descending amount of dosage for the next 3-4days for the sinus to clear up. Personally I don't like the word "steroid" as I just googled on it, but I trust that Dr Khor is making the right decision to prescribe this to go along with Bactrim and it's not meant to be long term. This is the 2nd steroid based medic that he has ever taken. The 1st one was meant for the mild asthma for a short few days that he had a few months ago.

Anyway, he's being himself, eating and running around as usual. He still has the voice to scream the whole block down if he doesn't get to see the gorilla on the iPhone app. We still have our good night sleep and so does he. He should be all right after the dose of Bactrim. I would work from home tomorrow and am thinking of requesting to work from home on Friday as well to make sure he's off the aircon in LV for the next 2days to stay home and sweat it all out. Also, I believe putting him in Moriah would be a good decision to make since it's non aircon there. That would a lot of difference.

YT and I were just exchanging notes on our observation of Dr Khor. Today is just another day when I see him walk straight into her clinic happily. He doesn't seem to be wary of her at all. He went in with a big wide grin and waved at her. During checkup he shed no tear and made himself at home all over her clinic. Dr Khor is not the type of Dr whom has the idea that die-die MUST pump in medication per prescription until the kid is well. She connects the symptoms and analyses and decides what to prescribe. I also realised that other that the high power medication that she prescribes, most of them are herbal based rather than drugs. And she followup with almost daily calls to check on the kid and decide the next step whether dosage should be decreased or stopped entirely. As parents, we think she's a caring and good doctor except for the fees that we pay to see her to help her cover her hefty rent in prime area. :)
