Mama and AhMa

Clear distinction of Mama and Ah Ma (the Ma word) is pronouced differently.
When Shawn calls me (yesterday evening) - Ma4Ma3 (hanyunpinyin)
My mum was on the speaker phone with us last night, Shawn went Ma4! and then Ah1Ma4! And he rattled on and on and on looking at the phone.
