Day2 at new school

When Shawn saw me yesterday, he cried a bit (with no tears). Spoke to Chen Lao Shi for awhile. She said he was well behaved in school, they didn't need to pat him much before he dozed off and most importantly he didn't cry at all after I left. He just followed what other kids do. Meanwhile he saw the building cranes outside, he was happily chanting "crane" (klane). He was well behaved for the 1st ten minutes when we got home. Then he was asking for this and that. Even with the Sesame St CD on, he was screaming for Elmo. I gave him the drawing board to buy time while I hid in the kitchen and prepared his dinner. He had his dinner at about 6.35pm and finished by 7pm. I bathed him and put him in the cot while I bathed and he had his HK TVB series (which was the last episode). By 8.30pm he was in bed already.

This morning he woke up happy at about 7am and played and rolled around his bed talking to himself while waiting for his lazy parents to get up. Not until he screamed for milk, then I got off the bed at 7.30am. He sat on his highchair as usual to wait for his milk. Meanwhile, I prepared to boil corn soup for dinner. Had that done in 10minutes while he was screaming for milk after 5minutes sitting down. I sat down with him to make him drink his milk by distracting him with drawing and books. Then changed him into his school uniform and new diapers while he lied down quietly with his toothbrush. We asked him if he likes to go to the new school. He clapped his hands. And asked him if he wants to go the new school. He clapped his hands. Asked him if he likes the teachers there. He clapped his hands. I hope that's a good sign and that he understood what we asked. Well, he was happy when I was about to pick him up from the cot after I dressed up for work.

We got out of the house at 8.15am and arrived at school for breakfast at 8.35am. He went into the school compound 1st while I stood from afar to observe. He asked for 2servings of bread with jam (about 1.5pcs i think) and he poured milk onto himself while eating. After breakfast one of the teachers asked him to drink water and he didn't want. He pointed at the bathroom and started to tear. The teacher brought him to clean up and brought him to the assembly area. When he got out of the bathroom he seemed okay already.. Then I requested to go into the school compound and watched him. He came to me and I asked for a kiss and said bye bye. Then he went back and explored the assembly room. While waiting for other kids, he played the blocks by himself. When they wanted to assemble the kids to sit on the floor to start the day, the teacher brought him to the container and asked him to put in the toy. He put in the back the toy but the moment he sat down he sulked and cried and called for me. One teacher whisked him up and pacified him at another corner of the assembly area. I heard him crying for about 5minutes or so. Then when another teacher started to teach Chan Mali Chan (Malay folk song) to the all the kids (from PG to K2), I didn't hear crying anymore. The older kids know the song and as they were reading the lyrics, I heard didn't hear background cry anymore. I took a peep and saw that he was still seated on the teacher's lap but was looking around. I thought I better leave by then before he sees me and tear again. I was thinking was that a sign of protest? Since mommie is around so means she could come to my rescue? But she didn't. Hahahahaha...

I just called the school and spoke to the principal. She told me that Shawn is ok overall. He did tear a bit when it's almost nap time (she happened to be in the PG area at that time). I think the anxiety starts to kick in. Perhaps he now realised that he's in a new school and having to get used to the new environment.
