Happy Chinese New Year!

I started work last Wednesday and that's when my mum arrived. Timing was right and I got all the help needed to pull through the long weekend with the kids during CNY. :) Shawn loves the idea of going around with oranges and saying "Gong Xi Gong Xi Gong Xi Ni Ya" (as per the CNY song), but when it comes to the real thing asking him to do so, his volume is almost inaudible but his hands and the bag of oranges would move up and down, just minus the volume. Takes him a long long while to warm up to say things out loud.

We went to Auntie Sandra's place for reunion dinner. In order to get Shawn to take his bath before we headed out, I showed him a dinosaur (in bones) shirt that I bought during X'mas. He was so excited wearing it as he loves dinosaur. He kept saying "I want wear dinosaur shirt, dinosaur bones". So we manage to get him out of the house wearing the new clothes and told him we were going to "Yi Po's house" - i.e. grandauntie. He could associate Uncle Wai Sing, Justin and Grandauntie Sandra. Then he kind of got confused saying, "Justin's house, cooking toys". Then we had to re-emphasize that we were going to Yi Po's house. We had a sumptous dinner, while for Shawn, I cooked brown rice/barley/pork/carrot/wolfberries medley for him. I told him that he was going to have porridge and he replied, "I want rice". Luckily it turned out to be quite sticky and dry and he finished it all - obviously we were feeding him! Halfway through, he rummaged Auntie Sandra's DVD collection and pointed out, "I want to watch Nemo". But he quickly forgot it all and watched "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs" with the rest of us.

On the 1st day of CNY, we went over to Auntie Sandra's place for lunch, while Mum went to the temple at Bugis for prayers. The two cousins Justin and Shawn , as usual again were looking through the DVD collection. Shawn went and tell Justin, "I want to watch Nemo, ok? Ok?". But he didn't get to watch anyway, we watched "The Incredibles" over the cartoon channel. Shawn wasn't very interested in that show instead he was walking around and playing with other decoration (toys to him) which Auntie Sandra has in the house. We went home for a good nap and brought the kids to T2 for an evening out. Shawn was running really really happily around T2 as his own home. He headed straight to Starbucks end and said, "Cheesecake, Starbucks" repeatedly. Then we said, "No, we are going for dinner first". He was very cooperative and went to Level3. As he was runinng from the escalator to the restaurant, he screamed, "Dinner coming! Dinner coming!". We asked him, "Where is dinner?". He pointed out to Pasta de Waraku and said, "There". We were there last weekend and he got a toy binoculars. This week he got a drawing tablet and toy handphone. No wonder he went in there happily!

On the 2nd day of CNY, we went to my uncles' place in the west. Shawn had his fair share of cookies especially love letters, mandarin oranges and bak kwa. He loved the fishball that my auntie made and obviously loved steamboat from both sides. So did we! It was glut day out. Shawn skipped his nap. When we got home, he was tired that we couldn't get him up to bath. So I just gave him a wipe down. After that he woke up whiny and insisted of watching TV. We managed to get him into bed after milk. However, in the middle of the night, he sleep talked many times. I heard things like - I want this. Cannot. I want orange. So much of skipping his nap! He slept till 9.30am and so did we!

As for Dylan, his schedule was disrupted as well, overstimulated by the new environments past few days. He woke up at 4am yesterday and this morning at 4.30am! At both times he woke up hungry. Also I notice he seemed to have been drinking more. I would have to try to fit him back to sleep through at least till 6am else I would be darn tired especially during weekdays!
