The Magic Ocean

Steph got us the tickets to a kids' theatrical production at the Esplanade yesterday. On Saturday night, I had reminded Shawn that he would be watching a undersea show with ME, and not YT. He got up the next morning and jumped onto my bed and said, "Mommie, I want to watch Nemo and Dory." I corrected his expectations and said, "No we are going to see fishes, whale and starfish later on. He remained excited...

When we got there at the recital studio, Shawn was totally unwilling to part with YT when we separated. He was whiny and crying to ask for Papa to come along. I told him that I had reminded him that Mommie is the one bringing him to the show. He was whiny and crying on and off. At the recital studio, we sat the floor. Neysha, Elaine and Lucas and their mommies were there too. He didn't play with them while in the recital studio. I guess he was just not ready to accept the separation with YT at that time. Justin was all happy and excited and our dear friend Shawn just sat at my legs and waited for the show to start. It was quite interesting as the tunes that they had in the show was very familiar to the kids like "London bridge is falling down" and "The wheels on the bus". It took a short while for Shawn to be comfortable. He was excited and happy to see the fishes "swimming" by, the funny French hermit crab who repeatedly said Merci (which tickled him a lot), shadow play starfish and eels which go yaba yaba yaba, stingray and jelly fishes that flew past us. When the show ended, he was tearful because he still wanted to watch it. I had to tell him that it has ended. We would catch another show next time. He was in denial and kept on crying. At the same time he was looking for YT (AGAIN!). I had to scoop him up and get him out of the recital studio, drenched in his tears. He somewhat got past it when we went towards Thai Express and some other kids were saying to have noodles for lunch. Shawn also said that he wanted to have noodles for lunch. So he had Patt Thai for lunch and yes, he did eat on his own.

After lunch, YT and him just sat the river bank and enjoyed the not-so-hot noon sun in the shade while enjoying quite-smelly breeze from the bay while Dylan and I dug in our lunch with Steph at the restaurant. When he got into the car, he was knocked out just after 5min of drive. It sure was a very 'happening' weekend for him. And the next show that we're going for would be in August.
