Shawn tried to coax Dylan to nap over the weekend while me, the lazy mommie just lie and decided to see what happens next. Shawn said, "Come here little birdy. Quick quick go and sleep. Later mommie scold you. Go go!" I saw him shoo-ing Dylan to the bed, then he gave Dylan the bolsters... what a good big brother! Then I asked him, what little birdy? He answered, "Didi lor". It did sound like little buddy probably from Cartoon Network.
Shawn got a bit upset this morning. He asked if we are going to bring any food for Tr Seena. Well, not that I know of.So I said I'll buy something today so that tomorrow he can bring it to Tr Seena. So I bought a nice loaf from bakery for him to bring to school tomorrow. Let's see how it goes.. tonight I may just ask him to draw/write something to bag it up for his fav teacher.

update!
One of the days when I was changing Dylan's diaper, Shawn came by and said, "Aiyoyo, Didi's poo poo so smelly. Pengsan!"
His love for Sweet and Sour pork, Pineapple chicken and Hawaiian Pizza are so much like the father. Can't explain more...
Recently Shawn opened a new Ben10 alien. So he told us that Tr Seena told them to bring a toy to school. However, there is no mesasge in the comm book to ask kids to bring toys for Show and Tell. So before leaving the house we told him to leave the toy at home as kids are not advised to bring toys to school. He got upset and insisted that he wants to bring for Show and Tell. So we reasoned with him and stated that there is no note, so don't need to bring. After much coaxing he left home without the toy. Well apparently there is no show and tell. In the evening when we got home, we asked him about Show and Tell when he was much more sober. So the reason was that he wanted to SHOW AND TELL his friends about his new toy, not the class session of Show and Tell.

Recently...
I wrapped Shawn up to towel dry after bath and I called him Dumpling. Then I asked him, then how about didi, what should we call him? Shawn replied, "Char Siew Pau"
End of last week he was said to be having stomach flu. Even without the fever, he kept putting on his hand and said, "Mommie I have fever, see. I don't need to go to school"
He dropped a jet plane that he made from a whole lot of lego blocks. He got upset and said, "See see see! How now? How you tell me how?!" ... DRAMA!

Growing up with Shawn
9/21 new word : Chrysalis
Caterpillar become pupa. Pupa also known as chrysalis. Pupa is like that (palms claps together). After that pupa become butterfly. Every morning, a very "caring" Shawn would ask Dylan, "Didi do you want ipad?" With or without answer, he would open the study room door and get the ipad. If Dylan whines for it, then he'll give it to him else it's his. I would ask did he take the iPad out from the room, his answer would typically be because didi wants to play ipad.
Shawn doesn't need ME to put him to bed anymore. Putting him to bed = lying next to him and hold his hands. It's been a couple of days when he declares (while brushing his teeh) that he wants to sleep ALL by himself, on his own. YT tried a couple of times and said something like, "Papa lie next to you ok and pat you?" He replied, "No cannot, you are not my mommie". Then YT said, "Then mommie come in can she pat you?" Answer was, "May be"

Shawn : Ho Sang told me. He said his eyes like his
Shawn was mumbling some parts of Nobody (nobody but you) in Korean. Simply don't understand why the both of them prefer the Korean version. Hahaa

Update!
Shawn was gloomy when we picked him up 3days ago. When asked what happened, he started to sob. He said, "Tr Seena give me a worksheet. I write my name on the paper, with numbers 1,2,3. Then I lost the paper. I don't know where it is". He was so upset that he cried so much, then we had to pacify him to say it's ok, tomorrow we ask Tr Seena if she kept the worksheet and he can bring it home for us to look at. So the next morning we asked Tr Seena about it. She said, "Oh... that worksheet. He forgot to bring it home, it's in his cubby hole. He told me yesterday that he wants to bring home for mommie to see". Well, YT and I were both happy that at least Shawn treasures even a sheet of worksheet and am glad that he's not making origami plane out of it!
We were at STGCC on Saturday. Shawn enjoyed himself; collected freebies and phamplets (ending up in dustbin). He took a photo with a skinny Ironman, cringed at the sight of Predator, browsed through Marvel comics and got himself glued at those booths with nonstop of animations. We survived the hoardes of teenagers and comic lovers.. boy am I glad to be out of the place!
Yesterday Shawn said, "Today we learn about food chain. The moth take the nectar from the flower, the praying mantis eat the moth, the bird eat the praying mantis, the fox eat the bird. The fox use the claws to catch the bird and munch". The end. So who eats the fox?
I asked if he wants to help me to hang the clothes at the yard. His reply was "No thanks" . Bleah...
I love Shawn's coloring these days. Recently he colored Rumpelstiltskin's angry wig (from Shrek) with yellow, orange and red crayons blended nicely. And yes, within the lines! And he made the dragon red (as is) and Shrek and all ogres green. But he still colors McQueen blue, brown and green :)

Confessions
Dylan wailed and cried in pain for less than a minute when the 2 were playing
Mommie : Shawn, why did didi cry?
Shawn : I take the gun from the basket, I hold it and walk around. Then I press the trigger. I swing swing swing and then didi neck pain.
Mommie : Oooo you swing it around is it?
Shawn : Yes
Mommie : So the gun hit didi's neck?
Shawn : Yes (looking sadly onto the floor)
I hugged & praised him for finally telling me the truth after I asked him for more than 10times!

Update
As we came down from the cab, Shawn offered, "Let me hold your hand didi" and held Dylan's hand. 3 of us walked in a row till we reached a little shallow drain. Shawn said, "See I walk over it" and stepped over while still holding Dylan's hand. Then Dylan stepped over. Shawn rubbed Dylan's head and said, "Good job Dylan!". Such sweet boy! And he does that whenever we take a cab home. He also helps to try to put Dylan shoes on for him when I pick them up from school.
Last Friday Shawn went to watch Rocky the baby Panda. He said, "I take (took) a school bus. Sit with Xin Yi, she's my partner, then we all go and watch the show (play)". He loved the friendly tiger prancing around and scratching the panda's ear. When asked about the crane, he said, "The crane dance funnily like this" and stamp his feet quickly, head look down and moved his arms like a bird flying. Guess he loves the play a lot and am glad that he enjoyed it!
On Saturday Shawn and I went to a shoe shop to get white shoes for class photo taking. We saw a pair with white Barney emboss and I asked, if he wanted it. He replied, "No, Barney is girly." He chosed one with Snoopy emboss and another pair with Mickey emboss for Dylan.
Last night, Ah Ma was commenting that Shawn hasn't been reading Peter and Jane (well, he did 3days ago). So I passed that comment to Shawn. He turned around and said, "No, but I do my work." (i.e. Ah Ma spent time going through some Chinese workbook and coloring activities with this guy). I guess he figured reading and 'doing work' means education time; it's either or combination; not 'doing work' AND reading!
Everytime I told him that he's been watching too much TV and that he should 'do some work', he would ask, "Later I watch when I drink milk? Just a little bit, ok?"
Ah Ma bought some pretty dresses for my little niece and showed me. He said, "No, it's not nice". I said, "Ok, how about if Zoe wears this one? And how about if Ashley wears this other one?". He nodded and smiled.
This morning, no one saw what happened but we were just guessing the boys played too rough. So Dylan might have knocked against Shawn's nose that it bled, not profusely. So, I told the teacher to watch out. Tr Seena asked him what happened, and he told her that Dylan pushed him.

Where were we?
Still the sweetest chap in the house...
- Shawn took "Lord Shen" and Monkey to Dylan when Dylan threw tantrum when his toy dropped under the bed during diaper change, stroked Didi and went out to continue his TV, Dylan just continued wailing and crying over the dropped toy. I asked my mum if she did ask Shawn to bring toys to Dylan. She said no she didn't. So it was him who brought the toys to Dylan
- Shawn climbed down from the dining chair and went to stroke Dylan's head and told Dylan not to cry when the latter was in his playyard alone
- Shawn asked , "When didi is ok, he go to school with me? With you and papa too?"
Yesterday, Shawn shook his head and said, "This didi so funny. He make the ipad so funny". It's because YT changed the interface. Tonight I reminded him today it's Monday. When I was putting Dylan to bed, he told my mum that he doesn't want to use iPad. He then said, "Can use on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday".
Looks like we got the rules into his head, hope he remembers that! :D

As much as I can remember what we spoke about his friends... Shawn : You know today, Yue Liang go to Mrs Lim office
Mommie : why?
Shawn : Because Yue Liang beat Wen Ting. Then Wen Ting cried huhhh huhhh huhh

Shawn : Yes, then Mrs Lim bring him to office. Yue Liang cry in there. He wait for his papa and mommie in Mrs Lim office
Mommie : Do you know if you would get any new classmates tomorrow?
Shawn : Mmm yes, got. One gal. Long hair one

Last Friday I told Shawn I would go out and meet a friend. He was quite upset because I refused to bring him out. Then I said, next time I'll bring him along. On Saturday, he asked me if I was going out to meet my friend.

Update
Shawn dotes Dylan a lot i.e. when Dylan doesn't snatch his toys or books.
-He gets upset when I threaten to pour away Dylan's milk when Dylan stops drinking and walk about the house. Shawn cries because of this.. but well Dylan just heck care.
-Even when Dylan does something wrong like tearing a book and we scold him, Shawn would side Dylan and says that Dylan (still) is a good boy. We get scolded in return. Duh...
-Over weekend Dylan was a cry baby and super sticky glue to me. Shawn did try to pacify Dylan when all of us were going nuts over his bad tantrums. He said to Dylan "Didi don't cry ok?" and stroke his head. Then at one point, Shawn clapsed his palm on Dylan's cheek and said, "Dylan I love you".
Awwww..... rare, really rare moments...
We missed the PTC last Saturday. Had a quick chat with teacher this morning. He is attentive in class and more talkative now. Shawn is to be able to count 1-20. However, Tr Seena was saying when he counts physically 11-20 items, he has the tendency to get the numbers mixed up.

Show and Tell
Show and tell - On the way home, Shawn excitedly told us about Show and Tell in school. He said, "Today, we have show and tell. I bring dinosaur, the brown one and tell my friends dinosaur can rarrrr (roar)". Back at home, I asked which one he wants to bring, he said, he wants to bring T-rex and it's the brown one that he wants to bring. In actual fact this has not taken place yet. When probed further, he told us that Hosang would bring McQueen, Hon Jin and Jeremy would bring Thomas Choo choo train, Steve would bring (mommie cannot remember) , Ryan would bring Knight Dragon, Ashley and Wen ting would bring their dolls. This morning when we sent him to school, he was very excited, shouted for Tr Seena and said that he brought his dinosaur. He said, "Tr Seena, Tr Seena. I bring my dinosaur for Show and Tell. I show you!". We asked Tr Seena about the event because there was no note to get the kids to bring any stuff for Show and Tell. She said yes that she was going to organise one and the kids got excited. So she'll just let them do their session if they bring their things along today.
During dinner, Shawn scooped up a spoonful of soup and gave me, "Let you try the soup." and poured onto my spoon (even we all have our own bowls of soup) Awwww.. how sweet. I asked him to do the same to offer to YT and Ah Ma too

One sweet thing...
During dinner yesterday, I blanched some asparagus. Shawn took one before he even put one into his mouth...
Shawn : Didi, nah, take one. Blow first ok, it's hot
Dylan : (took one and said).. cold! cold!
Shawn : No, it's hot
Dylan : Cold
Mommie : It's warm just nice to eat
Shawn : It's warm, but blow first
Dylan : Hot
Shawn then took another one and gave it to Dylan. Then I noticed he was giving Dylan the end of the asparagus instead of the spears. I said, "Looks like you are eating the spears". And he replied, "I like spears, nice"
Dylan threw tantrum at home today. He decided to just lie down on the floor and cry. Shawn went to him, "Didi, don't cry, come get up" and helped Dylan up from the floor. #2 stopped crying and got up

I'm so glad
I am so glad for these:
1. Stashed up 5a - 12b Ladybird keywords from SMH bulk purchase. Nope, we are not there yet... Somewhere in 3a for now, on and off we'll get day off from keywords book while Shawn his "me" time playing iPad or puzzle.
2. Also bought Superhero Phonics set from SMH bulk purchase. This kept him turning the pages for the past 2days since the books arrived on Monday night and Mommie unpacked only 2days later.
Shawn : Mommie you buy the books for me?
Mommie : Yes, for you to learn new words and being able to read
Shawn : Then I can watch just (TV) just a little bit?
3. And ordered lots of books for myself (i'm old school) and Shawn from http://www.book.depository.com/ . First shipment was made on 20/5, I supposed books should start to arrive really really soon!
4. Just burnt my pocket buying more books from the Popular sales today!

Can anyone tell me any other reason to give ?
- Less tears in the morning getting him out of the bed to the bathroom, back to the room to change, and to drink milk
- Less request to watch Cartoon Network (at least we are CN free for almost a week for now)
- Mom was in town for the past 3weeks, HELPED me a lot and thank you. She's leaving for home soon... back to sq one... bohoooo
1. Stashed up 5a - 12b Ladybird keywords from SMH bulk purchase. Nope, we are not there yet... Somewhere in 3a for now, on and off we'll get day off from keywords book while Shawn his "me" time playing iPad or puzzle.
2. Also bought Superhero Phonics set from SMH bulk purchase. This kept him turning the pages for the past 2days since the books arrived on Monday night and Mommie unpacked only 2days later.
Shawn : Mommie you buy the books for me?
Mommie : Yes, for you to learn new words and being able to read
Shawn : Then I can watch just (TV) just a little bit?
3. And ordered lots of books for myself (i'm old school) and Shawn from http://www.book.depository.com/ . First shipment was made on 20/5, I supposed books should start to arrive really really soon!
4. Just burnt my pocket buying more books from the Popular sales today!

These days...
He's still stuck at identifying "this, they, want". These are the few words which make him turn around and look at us with the "What is this?" look. Other than that he's doing ok reading the keywords books. This week he asked Dylan's book from Fisher Price infant range, on dog, simple sentences in there. He could read "This is a dog" - the 1st sentence of the mini book. Yay!
